She worried he would break her heart, but sitting in the dim light, nursing her martini, listening as his fingers danced across the keyboard, she couldn’t fight the desire to close her eyes and imagine those fingers dancing across her skin.

She tried to walk away but his melody gripped her, his lyrics wrapped themselves around her heart, and as the minutes ticked by she knew she would stay.

Soon he would leave his piano, amble towards her, settle next to her, and touch her thigh.

The sparks would shoot through her sex, and when he leaned in and whispered in her ear, promising all the dark, decadent, wicked things he would do to her, she would melt under that slight, light touch, and lean into his shoulder.

Much later, when the music was still echoing through the corridors of her mind, and the ropes were wrapped around her wrists, and the flogger’s leather tongues were thudding against her backside, she would realize she’d been lost to him from the first chord, the first lyric, the first moment his gaze had locked her eyes.

She’d tried to walk away, but his spell, the one woven through the magic of his music, had already been cast.

Piano In The Dark

Brenda Russell

I turn around in the still of the room
Knowing this is when I’m gonna make my move
Can’t wait any longer
And I’m feeling stronger but oh

Just as I walk through the door
I can feel your emotion
It’s pullin’ me back
Back to love you
